Fruit tegen artrose en artritis.*
Uit een langjarige Australische studie blijkt dat het eten van voldoende fruit oxidatieschade tegengaat waardoor artrose en artritis aan de knie voorkomen kan worden. 293 mensen van middelbare leeftijd werden 10 jaar lang gevolgd wat betreft hun voedingsgewoontes en nadien werd middels MRI scans het knieweefsel bestudeerd. Vooral voeding met veel vitamine C uit fruit en met bepaalde carotenoïden zoals luteïne en zeaxanthine verlaagde de kans op gewrichtsproblemen in de knie flink.
